Our Doncaster Training Centre and Head Office is the original home of KH Plant Training and remains our main operational base.
With a five-acre purpose-built practical training area, nine classrooms and an extensive range of plant and machinery, Doncaster offers the facilities and capacity required to deliver our full range of training, testing and qualifications.
From plant operations and lifting courses to health and safety and vocational qualifications, the centre supports both individuals and businesses requiring recognised, high-quality training.
A Purpose-Built Training Centre
The Doncaster centre has been specifically developed to provide realistic, controlled and professional training environments for a broad range of plant, lifting and construction-related courses.
The five-acre practical training area includes:
- A dedicated roller pad
- A 360 excavator digging area
- Stockpiles for loading shovel and articulated dump truck training
- A 12-metre twin tower for telehandler high-lift training</strong
- Inclines for telehandler and articulated dump truck training
- A designated cable avoidance and CAT and Genny training area
- A dedicated forklift truck training unit with racking, palletised loads and a practical chicane
- Stockpiles containing varied materials for different course and test requirements
These facilities allow training and testing to take place in conditions designed to reflect the practical demands operators are likely to encounter in the workplace.
Lifting and Crane Training
Doncaster has a dedicated lifting area containing a variety of loads, including balanced, unbalanced and bundled loads.
The centre also has the lifting accessories and equipment required to deliver practical training across a wide range of crane, slinging, signalling and lifting operations.
Plant and Machinery
A broad selection of machinery is permanently based at the Doncaster centre, allowing us to offer an extensive programme of practical courses.
Equipment includes:
- Mobile crane
- Two telehandlers
- 360-degree rotating telehandler
- Two 14-tonne 360 excavators
- Five-tonne 360 excavator
- Wheeled loading shovel
- Tracked dumper
- Articulated dump truck
- Cabbed forward tipping dumper

The centre also provides training for articulated dump trucks and a range of other plant categories, with equipment arranged according to course requirements.
Classroom and Welfare Facilities
The centre has nine classrooms for theory-based training, examinations, briefings and assessments.
Additional learner facilities include:
- A covered observation area
- A drying room
- A canteen with complimentary drinks and biscuits
- On-site café, Muckshifters Munch
Muckshifters Munch serves breakfasts, sandwiches, lunches and hot food throughout the day.
Supporting Regional and National Clients
Although Doncaster is ideally positioned for customers across South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and the surrounding areas, the centre regularly supports clients and learners from across the UK.
As our largest operational base, it is particularly well suited to businesses arranging multiple courses, larger training programmes or training involving a variety of plant and equipment.
