A09 – Forward Tipping Dumper
Course Objective
The primary goal of this course is to equip delegates with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and competently operate forward tipping dumpers on construction sites in accordance with CPCS guidelines.
Learning Outcomes
- Legislative and regulative requirements of a plant operator.
- Roles and responsibilities of a plant operator within the construction industry.
- Preparation of plant equipment for work following operator’s manuals and other information sources.
- Travel and manoeuvre the equipment on level and undulated surfaces, both in a laden and unladen state.
- Set the machine to receive, transfer, and discharge materials.
- Perform safe parking, shut down, and isolation procedures for the machine.
Assessment
- CPCS Theory Test (verbal - 30 minutes)
- CPCS Practical Test (60 minutes)
Entry Requirement
- 2 years of their booked CPCS test date
- A good understanding of spoken and written English
- All candidates will need to provide their own appropriate PPE for training and testing purposes
Certification
Successful candidates receive a CPCS ‘Construction Plant Competence Scheme’ card upon completion. If candidates don’t currently hold a relevant NVQ, they receive a CPCS Red Trained Operator card (2-year validity). During this period, candidates work towards the relevant plant operations NVQ to upgrade to a Blue Competent Operator card (5-year validity).
Summary
The course balances practical and theoretical tuition. Novice delegates undergo theory training to prepare for the Theory Test. All courses are taught by industry experts, ensuring an enjoyable learning experience while acquiring the knowledge and skills for CPCS assessment.
