Our Halifax Training Centre is the newest addition to KH Plant Training’s expanding network of professional training facilities.
Located at Cold Harbour Quarry, the fully operational six-acre centre has been developed to meet growing demand across West Yorkshire and surrounding regions while increasing the overall number and range of courses we can provide.
Halifax offers extensive facilities for lifting, crane and plant training, with dedicated machinery permanently based at the site.
A Purpose-Built Training Centre
The centre operates from a former working quarry, providing a substantial and realistic environment for practical plant and lifting training.
Its six-acre training area includes:
- Scaffolding tower for telehandler high-lift training:</strong
- Dedicated roller pad</strong
- Pressure-tested crane pad suitable for loads up to 120 tonnes</strong
- Practical Chicane</strong
- 360 excavator digging area</strong
- An incline for telehandler training</strong
- Stockpiles containing varied materials for different course and test requirements</strong
These facilities allow operators to train and be assessed in practical conditions while remaining within a professionally managed training environment.
Specialist Lifting Facilities
Halifax has been fitted out as a high-quality location for a wide range of lifting courses.
The site includes a dedicated pressure-tested crane pad and a variety of training loads, including balanced, unbalanced and bundled loads.
A full range of appropriate lifting accessories is available for practical training and assessment.
Plant and Machinery
Dedicated machinery is permanently based at Halifax, supporting regular practical training and testing.
Equipment includes:

The centre also provides training for articulated dump trucks and a range of other plant categories, with equipment arranged according to course requirements.
Classroom and Welfare Facilities
The Halifax centre has two dedicated classrooms for theory-based training, examinations and course briefings.
A large welfare area is also available, with complimentary drinks provided for learners attending the centre.
Serving West Yorkshire and Beyond
The Halifax Training Centre was opened in response to increasing demand from customers across West Yorkshire and surrounding areas.
Its location provides a more convenient option for individuals and businesses based around Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford, Leeds, Lancashire and the North West.
The additional centre also allows KH Plant Training to offer more course dates, improve availability and reduce waiting times across the business.
Halifax is not limited to local customers. It is also available to national clients and individual learners from anywhere in the UK where the location or available dates are more suitable than Doncaster.
Courses are organised across both centres, giving customers greater flexibility when selecting where and when their training takes place.
