The aim of the Emergency first aid at work course is to provide delegates with a basic introduction to first aid practical skills to gain confidence and knowledge to support chosen individuals in become first aiders within the workplace. Our 1 day programme meets the requirements of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
Content
By the end of the course, delegates should be able to have knowledge of:
Roles and responsibilities of the first aider
How to assess an incident and manage an emergency
Providing first aid to a casualty who is choking
Dealing with external bleeding and hypovolaemic shock
Communication and casualty care
Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations
First aid skills in adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Adult seizures
Adult choking
Use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
Assessment
Candidates are assessed via continuous trainer observation and written assessment. Candidates need a basic command of English. We may be able to make specific arrangements if requested in advance. Please contact our office on 01709 464050 for any guidance and/or queries.
The HSE recommend delegates continue their ongoing skills and development by attending a refresher course prior to the expiry of their 3 year certification.
